After spending more than twenty years working in the travel industry, creating holidays and helping people discover beautiful destinations around the world, I decided to change my life completely.
Ten years ago, I moved to Fuerteventura, where I found much more than spectacular beaches.
I discovered an island that teaches you to slow down, reconnect with nature and appreciate life's simple moments.
Today, I combine my experience in travel with my passion for yoga, holistic massage, breathwork and mindful experiences. Through this blog, I'd love to share not only the places I love most, but also a different way of experiencing Fuerteventura—one that goes beyond sightseeing and helps you truly connect with the island.
If you're looking for a holiday that's more than just beaches and cocktails, here are ten authentic experiences that will help you discover the real soul of Fuerteventura.
1. Watch the Sunset from the Top of a Volcano
One of the first things that completely amazed me when I moved here was the volcanic landscape.
Fuerteventura is the oldest island in the Canary Islands, formed millions of years ago through intense volcanic activity. Today, those ancient volcanoes offer some of the most breathtaking views on the island.
Standing on top of a volcano while the sun slowly disappears into the Atlantic Ocean is difficult to describe.

The colours change every minute.
The wind becomes softer.
Everything feels incredibly peaceful.
Even after eight years, it's still one of my favourite places whenever I need to clear my mind.
Local Tip: Bring a light jacket. Even in summer, the wind can be surprisingly fresh at sunset.
2.Walk Without a Destination
This might sound strange.
But one of the best things you can do in Fuerteventura is stop trying to "see everything."
Choose a coastal path.
A volcanic trail.
A quiet village.
Leave your phone in your pocket and simply walk.
The island has a way of slowing your thoughts without you even noticing.
Sometimes the best memories aren't planned.
2.Breathe... Then Dive into the Atlantic
We spend our lives breathing.
Very few of us actually know how to breathe.
One of the most powerful experiences I've introduced into my wellness sessions combines guided breathwork with an optional swim in the Atlantic Ocean.

Conscious breathing helps calm the nervous system, increase energy and bring your attention back to the present moment.
Stepping into the cool ocean afterwards feels like pressing the reset button on your entire body.
It's simple.
Natural.
And incredibly powerful.
3. Treat Yourself to a Holistic Massage

Many people think massages are a luxury.
I see them differently.
Travelling can be surprisingly demanding on the body.
Long flights.
Different beds.
Hours driving.
Surfing.
Hiking.
Even relaxing all day under the sun affects your muscles and nervous system.
A holistic massage gives your body permission to recover while giving your mind permission to stop.
Sometimes that's exactly what a holiday should be.
Look Up After Dark
One of Fuerteventura's hidden gifts appears after sunset.
The sky.
Away from big cities and artificial lights, thousands of stars become visible.
Find a quiet place.

Bring a blanket.
Turn off your phone.
Look up.
You'll quickly understand why so many people fall in love with this island.
5. Practice Yoga Outdoors
If you have never tried yoga before, this is the perfect place to begin.
And if yoga is already part of your life, practicing here will become an unforgettable experience.
Imagine moving your body to the sound of the waves, surrounded by the raw beauty of the desert landscape and ancient volcanoes.
Fuerteventura is a place where nature invites you to return to your breath, reconnect with your body and slow down.
Let yourself explore, move and flow, following the rhythm of the ocean and the wind.
Whether it's your first class or your hundredth, practicing yoga in this unique environment offers a deeply inspiring experience that stays with you long after the session ends.
And you if you want a guided experience , have a look here! I will be happy to be part of your practice !

7. Taste the Island
One of the best ways to understand a place is through its food.
Try the famous Majorero goat cheese.
Taste fresh local fish.
Visit a traditional bakery.

Enjoy Canarian cuisine in small family-run restaurants instead of tourist hotspots.
Food tells stories.
And Fuerteventura has some delicious ones.
Explore the Wild West Coast
One of the things I love most about Fuerteventura is that you can still find places where nature feels completely untouched.
The west coast, between El Cotillo and Tindaya, is one of those areas.
Here you'll discover dramatic cliffs, endless ocean views and hidden beaches where you can sometimes feel like you have the whole island to yourself.
The landscape changes constantly.
Golden sand.
Black volcanic rocks.
Wild Atlantic waves.
Quiet paths where you can walk for hours without meeting anyone.
It's the perfect place to slow down, explore without a strict plan and reconnect with the raw beauty of Fuerteventura.
Natural Pools
One of the most magical experiences in Fuerteventura is exploring the coastline in search of the small natural pools created by the volcanic rocks and the Atlantic Ocean.
From the area around Puerto de los Molinos—another hidden gem on the west coast that should not be missed—to the coastline near Caleta de Fuste, the island offers many rocky areas where, during low tide, incredible natural pools appear.
But this experience requires respect for the ocean.

Always check the tides before going and make sure you visit during low tide. It is also important to choose days when there is no swell, no strong waves and the sea conditions are calm and peaceful. There are truly dangerous conditions and currents in the ocean that should never be underestimated. Respect the warning signs and do not swim unless you are completely sure it is safe.
When the Atlantic is quiet, these natural pools become beautiful places to relax, observe marine life and enjoy a different side of Fuerteventura away from the busy beaches.
Take your time.
Listen to the sound of the ocean.
Discover the island slowly.
Fuerteventura isn't meant to be experienced in a hurry.
10. Learn to Do Less
This may be the most important experience of all.
Modern life teaches us to fill every minute.
Fuerteventura teaches the opposite.
Sit on a rock overlooking the ocean.
Watch the waves.
Listen to the wind.
Walk barefoot on the sand.
Breathe deeply.
Do absolutely nothing.
Trust me, I'm Italian—we practically invented la dolce vita, and we know the value of il dolce far niente: the beautiful art of doing absolutely nothing without feeling guilty.
You may discover that this becomes the most memorable part of your entire holiday.
Experience Fuerteventura, Don't Just Visit It
When I moved to Fuerteventura, I wasn't looking to leave my career in tourism behind.
I actually arrived here while I was still running my own travel business. After six years of living on this island, I made the decision to close that chapter—not because I had lost my passion for travel, but because I had discovered something deeper.
Fuerteventura had slowly changed the way I saw life.
This island has a living soul that teaches those who are willing to listen.
I realised that what I wanted to create no longer belonged to the world of constant movement, schedules and rushing from one experience to another. I wanted to connect completely with the energy of this place and transform everything I had learned over the years into something different.
Today, through yoga, holistic massage, breathwork and carefully designed wellness experiences, I love helping visitors experience the island the way I discovered it—not by rushing from attraction to attraction, but by slowing down enough to truly feel its energy.
If you're looking for more than a holiday, perhaps Fuerteventura is exactly what you need.
And I'd be honoured to share a little piece of this beautiful island with you.
